Sun Records was founded from the success of Sun Studio's recording of Ike Turner's original song ""Rocket 88"" -- arguably the first song linking between blues and rock n roll.In the 1950s, Memphis and the area around it was experiencing a cultural explosion, and Sun Records came at the perfect time and place to capture it.Sun Records quickly discovered Howlin' Wolf from Mississippi, who founder Sam Phillips called his greatest discovery -- big words from the man who found Elvis Presley.Elvis himself quipped, ""I said if I ever got to the place I could feel all old Arthur [Crudup] felt, I'd be a music man like nobody ever saw.""Inspired by the hip-shaking good times he saw his black fellow Mississippians & Memphians enjoying, Presley came to Sun and tried playing a cover of Crudup's ""That's All Right (Mama)"". The rest was history.
